Medinol cardiovascular intervention solutions are manufactured in our proprietary manufacturing facility. Leveraging our unique and patented QualitySurface™ manufacturing technology, Medinol conducts strict and automated quality control on each individual stent, ensuring consistently exceptional product quality, safety and performance.
Inspired by and evolved from the microelectronics industry, QualitySurface manufacturing enables Medinol to produce higher-quality stents which are individually inspected from both the luminal and abluminal sides throughout the manufacturing process. From cutting to coating and beyond, QualitySurface creates uniform and repeatable product batches with consistent quality:
Laser Cutting - Medinol's stents are cut by water-jet laser from cobalt-chromium alloy panels. Each panel includes multiple stent patterns, cut during the same sequence in a process far superior to traditional tube-based stent manufacturing.

eDES Technology – Medinol’s elastomer Drug-Eluting Stent technology (eDES, currently in clinical studies) is used for coating cobalt-chromium panels with a formulation of drug and advanced elastomer. The elastomer-based coating is highly elastic and maintains coating integrity, preventing polymer cracking and peeling which may occur in coatings based on rigid and brittle polymers during crimping and deployment. eDES also enables uniform drug release without over or under dosing.
Quality Control – cutting stents from cobalt-chromium panels also enables complete inspection of both stent surfaces using advanced Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) technologies. Unlike other stents that are manufactured from tubes, AVI of panels enables highly-accurate and early detection of deformations, manufacturing variability and other quality issues leading to an affordable quality of each individual stent.
